Alien name homework

It's the holidays!! Yippee!

Your challenge over the half term holiday is to create the craziest alien names you possibly can!  On your homework sheet choose one sound from each of the columns to make weird and wonderful words.  Then you could draw some aliens to go with each name.

Here is a fun website that you could go on to inspire your alien designs!

This is Miss Jenkins' alien.

He is called 'Thearp' and comes from the planet 'Phowt'!

PARENTS/CARERS

As mentioned at the Phonics Workshop last month, during the week beginning 18th June, we will be doing a statutory phonics screener with all of the Year 1 children.  This includes a mixture of real and 'alien' words.  It will test the children's decoding skills and ability to blend sounds to make words.  Here is a link to a short example video and the parent information on the Department for Education website.

Diamond Jubilee Celebrations!

Today we all dressed up in red, white and blue.  Some of us even came as royalty! The Year 6 children rein-acted the Queen's Coronation by crowning two reception children King and Queen of Begbrook!    We also had lunch on the field with our teachers and wore the fantastic crowns that we made on Monday.

Reception Visit!

We have had a lovely afternoon!
The children from our Reception came up to visit and play in our classrooms.
Year One children had the chance to go back and visit our old Reception class which we loved!
Here are some photos of Reception and Year 1 children playing.

Dinosaur Stories

Today we produced our own dinosaur story books.  We used water colour paints to make the front cover and wrote some amazing stories which we shared with our Year 6 buddies.

Mr Cruickshank was also very impressed with our books.

Shady Sketching

Today we made the most of the lovely weather by sketching outside in the shade.  We looked very carefully at plants and sketched what we could see.  Here are some of our sketches...
