1EG had a great time at the allotments at Feed Bristol today. We had a lovely walk down there with the PCSO and crossed the road so sensibly! When we got there we had a tour and looked at the different herbs and vegetables growing in the polytunnels, we wondered around the vegetable patches and had a chance to smell lots of different plants and herbs.
Then we looked at lots of different seeds. We noticed how they were all different colours, shapes and sizes. We talked about what these seeds would need to grow:
"The roots get food from the ground." (Tom)
"They need sunshine to grow." (Ernest)
"We have to water plants to help them grow." (Katie)
We all really enjoyed being able to plant our own seeds. We carefully filled our pots with compost, made a little hole with our finger, carefully buried our seeds and then they were ready to be watered. We had to make sure we labelled our plant so we knew what it was going to grow into. Some of us planted beans and some if us planted seeds. We are hoping to go back and visit later in the year to see how our plants have grown.
Thank you to everybody who helped out today!
Here are some photos - more to follow!
