Is there room on your broom?

Today we read and watched Julia Donaldson's "Room on a Broom". Those of us who knew the story enjoyed saying the words as we went along and for those who didn't know the story the dragon was quite scary!

After we talked about the story we rewrote it in our own words using our hands to remind us how to retell a story (this is a whole school target).

Look at these great stories:

We also tried to match rhyming words from the story ("like cat and hat because they sound the same at the end and they've both got at in them" said James in 1MP).

Our sentences about the brilliant broom were also super. Markus remembered to use a capital letter, finger spaces, exciting words and a full stop, what a super star!

Finally we designed our own truly magnificent brooms and imagined where we would go.

What would your magnificent broom look like and where would you go on it ?
