Maths learning!
We did lots of maths learning today. Some of us worked in pairs using the laptops and some of us played some games in class! We worked really well as teams!
Thursday 29th November Spellings
Here are this weeks spellings. Some of them contain the split digraph i_e sound. Remember that the e is silent and makes the vowel before say its name!
Keep up the hard work! You are all doing so well each Wednesday when we write them in class!

Sorting old toys
In class we have been talking lots about old toys.
We played this game, sorting the toys and talking about what they are made from.
Here is the link to the game.

Mr Morton's Meccano
Yesterday morning we had a surprise visitor...Miss Morton's daddy!
He was born in 1948, just 3 years after World War Two ended and came in to talk to us about the toys he played with when he was a young boy!
We found out all about:
-marbles and how to play with them
-spinning tops
-Meccano
-old television (not everyone had one!)
-toy soldiers
-metal cars and train sets
-building toy planes
We also learnt lots about what the toys were made from when Mr Morton was young.
Mr Morton was a primary school teacher before he retired so also told us lots about what schools were like when he was teaching. They had wooden desks and he used a blackboard and chalk!
We loved our visitor and listened really carefully. Thank you Mr Morton!
We will soon be asking our parents and grandparents about the toys they played with when they were young.
Any visitors are welcome to come and chat to us/share memories or show us their old toys!

New spellings
Here are your spellings for next Wednesday! Some of them have a 'y' at the end which makes the 'ee' sound. See if you can use your spellings to write some sentences. Remember capital letters and full stops!
Boogie with the band
This afternoon we had a lovely treat. Liesel's Dad and his band came and played us some live music! We sat and listened to the first song but then couldn't resist a dance! The Reception children loved it too. Can you spot yourselves (or your teachers) having a bop?!
Reading with our lovely buddies!
We read stories with our buddies again today! We love it. Here are some pictures of us snuggling up with some fantastic books.
Naughty bus story maps
We re-told the story of Naughty Bus today. We used water colours to paint each part of the story. Have a go at using our paintings to re-tell the story to an adult at home.
Be Bright!
'Bike It' Ian played a game with us this morning. We had to search for 30 fluorescent bibs on the school field. It took us 4 minutes! We were so fast...
