100 things in a box

How are you getting on with your half term homework? Don't forget your challenge was to fit 100 things in a match box (or other small box) and write what you used in your homework book.
Here is the start of Mrs Plowman's list:
A grain of rice
Sand
Glitter
Salt
A crumb of crisp

Why not add a comment to tell us what you have put in so far? We can't wait to see your boxes on Wednesday 20th February.

Arts week

As part of our arts week we looked at the work of Chinese artist Qi Baishi. We tried to copy his work. Look how well we did!

Spellings

Have a look at what we've been doing in Maths this week!

Chinese Treat

This morning, to celebrate Chinese New Year, Jihan and his Mum taught us how to count to 10 in Chinese!

They also told us lots about China and answered our questions.

We feel very lucky to have had such a special way to learn about the Chinese New year.

Chinese Dragon Dance

We have had some super duper parents helping us make Chinese Dragons this week.  It is Chinese New Year this Sunday.

Today we went to the hall to perform a Chinese Dragon Dance to Nursery and Reception.

Max J reminded us that the dragon dance is to "scare naughty people away" and Jasmine said it is to "scare the evil ghosts and spirits away".  We all made the dragon's body and some people had to help lead the dragons round the hall.

We also took bells and tambourines to "make the dragon dance" (Hannan) just like on a short film we watched.

Kelsie felt nervous as we were performing and Jihan felt crazy!  Everyone enjoyed performing and we feel proud of ourselves.

1MP Brilliant Beegu Homework

Today we all shared our homework by retelling the story of Beegu to a partner and as a class.

Here is Jasmine's picture of Beegu

Look how much Zainab wrote, she wrote over 2 pages!

Here is our class story of Beegu:

"Once upon a time Beegu the yellow alien was lost.  Her spaceship had crashed on Earth.  Beegu was looking for her spaceship and she was trying to find some friends.  When Beegu's ears were down she felt lonely but when Beegu's ears were up she felt great!  Beegu found some rabbits, she thought they would be her friends but they didn't understand her.  Even the leaves wouldn't stand still to listen to her.  She thought she heard her spaceship coming but is wasn't, it was a telephone ringing..."Bring, bring...bring, bring" and it wasn't for her! Later, Beegu found some puppies to be her friend. The owner of the puppies shouted at Beegu, he said "What on Earth!" and he made Beegu go away so Beegu felt lonely again.  Then Beegu went to a park and there were some children who Beegu became friends with, the teacher came and told Beegu to go away.  Beegu thought she could hear her mother calling but it couldn't be, could it?  It was! Finally Beegu told her mother told her mother all about her adventure that she had on Earth.  She told her mother all about her friends on Earth and she hoped that her friends would remember her."

Thank you for retelling the story so well.
