Learn your spellings happily!

Your spellings this week are some adverbs that can be used to make your writing more interesting.

 Notice that they all end in ‘ly’.

 You could chop them up into cards and tell an adult how to do something.  E.g. laugh excitedly, run wildly, skip happily, talk quickly!

AMAZING Homework!

Your homework task for this week was to design a fact sheet telling us about a country that you are interested in.  It is only Monday and ALREADY we have had some super posters!  Here are some pictures of children's work that we love!  We will add more pictures as the week goes on!  

Kacper's poster about Poland!  We love how the map is in the middle and has arrows adding information around the outside.  Well done! 

Isabelle's poster about Germany.  Her Aunty Paula lives there!  We love the colourful flag on Isabelle's poster and the fabulous drawing of Berlin.

Tommy has chosen to do a 'spider diagram' about Italy.  He wrote: "Ferraris are my favourite car and they come from Italy!"  Brilliant facts!

Aksa's family come from Pakistan so this is where she chose to do her poster about.  It includes some super facts and we love how she has decorated the border!

Here is Krystian's colourful poster about Poland.  He has printed some pictures from the internet to stick on!  A great idea-well done Krystian!

Making a map of our school!

 This afternoon we worked with our buddies in small groups to create a detailed map of our school.  We had to stick photos of different locations around the school onto the correct place on our maps.  We worked so well in our small groups and loved the freedom of exploring our school.  Our teachers were really proud of how grown up we were.  

 "Now it's Katie's turn to use the glue and stick on the Year 2 classroom photo."

"The hall is the biggest space so this must be where the photo needs to go!"

"We walked up the corridor and then turned left, it must be here!"

"Where shall we stick Mr Baker's office?"

Olympic Homework

Our new topic is all about the Olympics.  This week we have been looking at sports in the Olympics and the countries which take part.  For homework we would love you to make a poster or fact sheet about a country of your choice.  It could be the country where you were born or somewhere you have been on holiday.  Here is Mrs Plowman’s poster about Wales:

You could include:

·        The countries name

·        The countries flag

·        The name of the capital city

·        The languages that are spoken there

·        Any interesting facts about the country.

We have given you a big piece of paper for this and we look forward to putting the posters on display.  

Compound Birds

We made compound birds.  Compound birds are made up from compound words.  Samuel reminded us that "Compound words are two words which have been squashed together to make one word".
